Test your Battlefield skills in a whole new world.

Developer: Digital Illusions CE
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: Online First Person Shooter

On October 17th, the world is in for a treat. The latest installment in one of the greatest First Person Shooters will be hitting shelves. I’m of course talking about Battlefield 2142.

Battlefield 2142 is the 4th installment in EA/DICE’s Battlefield series. Typically, the Battlefield games have taken place in real life settings, with real life equipment, but Battlefield 2142 is the first to take place in a completely fictional setting. The weapons, locations, and scenarios are completely original.

The game takes place in the future, on Earth. The second Ice Age is upon us, and two armies are fighting for control of the remaining land. The two armies are known as: The European Union and the Pan Asian Coalition.

Both factions are armed to the teeth with futuristic weaponry and equipment. Hover tanks, battle-walkers, and air transports. The new technologies are awe-inspiring at times, and always fun to use.

New to the game is the ability to customize your kit. When you advance in rank and unlock new items and weapons, you can change your kit to accommodate your needs. Some unlocks include: a Defibrillator, RX-7 Demo Paks, and Smoke Grenades.

The biggest new addition is Titan Mode. A Titan is a huge floating battleship, which is your base of operations. Air vehicles spawn on the titan, making it a great jump-off point for any combat situation. Each faction has a Titan of their own, and each Titan starts off fully shielded (meaning that the enemy cannot get onto your Titan….yet). The initial objective of Titan Mode is to seize Missile Silos on the ground, which will then fire upon the enemy Titan, depleting its Shields. Once the enemy’s Titan (or your Titan) shields are down, it can be boarded. The objective once you board the Titan is to destroy four Reactor Consoles. Once the four consoles are destroyed, you can make your way into the reactor, and destroy it. The destruction of the enemy’s reactor marks the end of the game, and a victory for your team (or a victory for the other team if it was your reactor that was destroyed).

Battlefield 2142 is set to retail for $49.99, and is currently rated “RP” for Rating Pending (The final rating will likely be “T” for Teen, just like its predecessors).

its a good game overall. yes it uses the same textures from battlefield 2. I think the game is more fun tho. My prefrences of course i prefer a more infantry based battlefield like the old 1942. With desert combat and battlefield 2 sometimes you just didn't feel that. Out of 10 i would give this version a 8. The air game is lacking or the vehicles just suck against infantry and are made for air to air. I think some of the weapons need a little bit more "oomph". For example: the compact rockets upgrade you get as assault kinda suck. My only theory to that is that they made the "assualt" class a hybrid. It can do alot of things well. Rockets, Healing, grenades etc. The tanks are cool i think. Other vehicles tho, i would of liked to see some motorcycles like the ones in C&C. Some of the other gadgets you get are pretty cool, the infantry support things like mini machine guns and the mines that hover to the nearest target. The maps are fun to. Some are pretty spread out and decent. I think the fun is really on the urban 64 player maps, 1 word. CHAOS.
Titan mode is i think the better mod. I prefer this over normal conquest. You actually force yourself to fight for points as opposed to holding one point and managing to kill the other team and win. You need the control points in titan mode to be able to mount it, so i like it. Again im just talking about what i enjoy from playing it. feel free to add me to your friends list to if you wanna get down and play.
