Game Area Network So what happens when you want to host a server for an unsupported game? You use the Game Area Network. GAN installs a network adapter on your computer allowing you to host a game to play versus your friends without dealing with firewall issues. It works in much the same way as Xbox Live. GAN even lets you host any console game as well as long as it has a LAN mode. PlayLinc basicly fools the console into thinking you are playing a LAN game and allows your buddies to join. Game Overlay Game Overlay allows you to access your PlayLinc client without exiting your game. Just bind a key to activate it and you can send messages and own noobs, all at the same time. When you receive a message a clear pop up appears in the right hand corner letting you read while playing. You can even surf the web using the PlayLinc browsers. Just a click of your binds and you can see that it is really not Heaton killing you on Iceworld. They even have a section for Guides and Gameplay videos. This is just dying to be populated with GotFrag content. I will not be happy till I get to see Midway’s face overlaid in CS. The client also allows you to post on their forums, using your PlayLinc as your log in. It also has a team management section. Starting up a team server will automatically invite members of your team to a private server. This is perfect for organizing ten man pugs. It is also an easy way to keep track of your clan or MMO guild, and keep in easy contact with them. Conclusion PlayLinc is the perfect solution for gamers wanting to control their game experience without paying a lot of money for game servers and voice servers. It is easy to use and built by guys who have set the standard for back end server software in the gaming industry. Check out the beta at http://www.playlinc.com/.
