EXE’s Dave Derington gave the game an A with his review here. This game gives you the chance to rewrite history the way you want to see it rewritten. You must build up the civilization of your choice and crush your enemies to become the newest and most feared world power. In the original version of Civilization, you already had a wide selection of civilizations to choose from but the expansion adds six new civilizations for you to take charge of. This game spans all of history, from the beginning of the Peloponnesian wars (430 BC) to World War 2.This game has many different time periods included. The expansion pack brings new units and a new unit type simply named “Warlords”. Warlords are the new powerful leader unit in the game. These units will be a lot more powerful than your enemy’s basic unit. This will help you on your goal of conquering your enemies by being able to using your warlord as a tank. Along with the new units, Sid Meier introduces 10 new civilization leaders not just for the new civilizations but also for some of the original ones as well. With new leaders come new abilities that will assist you throughout the game. To go along with the new leaders two new leader traits will be introduced into the game. Another addition that will come with the expansion is new buildings and wonders. Wonders will help you along the way to becoming a global power by giving you resource boosts and making your leader stronger. Each civilization will be receiving a unique building that will allow that civilization to raise a special new unit. Along with the new features and additions, Sid Meier brings a new way to defeat your enemies. You now have the choice to let some of your enemies survive and make them do your bidding. Of course the expansion pack will also update your Civilization IV with the most recent patches and game upgrades so that you won’t have to spend 30 minutes waiting for your game to update. Firaxis has also made some additions and tweaks to the core game, which means expanded features and some gameplay tweaks, which have been made to make the gameplay easier and smoother for you. Firaxis pulls out all the stops for the first expansion pack of Civilization IV. Expect this expansion available some time this summer.
