Time to SiN.

Developer: Ritual Entertainment
Publisher: Steam / Valve
Release Date: May 9, 2006
Cost: $19.99

SiN first busted out on to the scene in 1998. The videogame introduced a new high in the level of interaction. But, it was overshadowed by the release of Half-Life and many people missed out on the game completely. SiN is back on the Source engine releasing chapters to the game much like Half Life 2 plans on doing. Using the same engine that made Half-Life 2 should prove entertaining, knowing Ritual’s love for dynamic gameplay.

SiN places you as John Blade, a commander of HardCorps. HardCorps is the top security force in Freeport City. Your arch enemy is Elexis Sinclaire, the owner of SiNTEK. She uses her evil corporation to try and turn humans into mutants. In the game, you will go up against her minions and mutant victims.

One of the most intriguing aspects about SiN is the Personal Challenge System™. The game tracks how you play, and then it adjusts your enemies as the game progresses. For example, if you get a lot of headshots, enemies will start to wear helmets and display more evasive behavior. The storyline is not static either, choices you make in the game can affect missions and outcomes farther down the road.

No word, as of yet, how much additional episodes will cost. The 3 to 6 hours of gameplay the developer promises for $20 bucks may be a bit steep for some people. If the rest of the episodes are at a lower price point I could see the first episode being worth it. Right now, if you preorder the first SiN episode on Steam, then you will receive the original SiN game with multiplayer for free.
