GotFrag launches a new site geared towards software reviews with the multiplayer gamer in mind!

I love reading about new games coming out but I rarely trust game review sites. Sometimes they will write anything just for free games, early beta test keys, insider scoops and exclusive demo downloads. Many times the writers are doing their job but often editors and publishers force their way in to give higher scores. Here at GotFrag EXE we are going to do things a bit different. If we have to buy the game off the shelves and review it a week late then so be it. If we have to wait 2 weeks just to get a true idea of how the multiplayer scene will play out, so be it.

We will break down a game into as many parts as we see fit: graphics, AI, multiplayer, singleplayer, etc. A game is just not about what one reviewer thought was fun; it needs to be broken down so you, the reader, can decide if a game is worth your time. Many multiplayer fans have been misled about games that have zero developer support. The large number of games in 2005 with multiplayer that seemed rushed or flat-out didn’t work was simply frustrating. Even the review sites I trust do not take the time to explore multiplayer beyond simply listing the features.

A game that is fun to play will not get the shaft because it doesn't use shader model 6.379427 on 2048x1536 resolution with HD lighting and the Newtonian Mecha-Fusion Precise Gravity Engine 3.0. The core game play will be judged on its own merits while eye candy will be talked about if it adds or takes away from the game play. Sure, we love a good looking game as much as the next guy—-but it better be fun.

The PC specs that are used in a review will be given to help gamers anticipate what to expect on their own systems. If a game runs poorly on the reviewer's system it will be noted. Face it—-not everyone has a dual-core SLI rig with 2 gigs of ram. Some of us barely have the minimum system specs and sometimes the recommended specs are still not good enough to run a game. The screenshots will be from the reviewer's PC; not some pre-rendered photo from a marketing department. You will see what the reviewer sees.

We will be focused on multiplayer but we will not ignore singleplayer only games. Sometimes you need a break from the constant mindless chatter on the Internet, so singleplayer games will not be left out.

Games will not be the only thing we cover on this site. We will take apart and show off features of the latest software or share with you programs that we think are a must have. We are always on the lookout for tweaks, fixes and handy tips to make your life as a computer gamer more enjoyable.

Not everyone will agree with a review. No one ever does--not even our own staff. If they have a different opinion from the reviewer they will be allowed to write a "Counterpoint," their own page, to point out something they felt the reviewer missed. Of course the comment section will be available for you, GotFrag readers, to tell us how right (or how wrong) we are.

So, welcome! We here at GotFrag EXE hope you get something out of each visit.
