download k-lite mega pack and install the quicktime alternative and realplayer alternative programs. Make sure you have the latest version of windows media player also or you could use the media player classic program that is installed by default with the k-lite mega pack. It will be used when playing videos in a browser, as will the quicktime and realplayer programs. You could also just download VLC Player and it will pretty much play anything.
