... to make a long story short. I was uninstalling a downloading program for music (BearShare). I noticed it was deleting my C:/My Downloads folder. So I clicked cancel. Now half of all my songs are deleted. I have from N-Z in song names/artists. Is there anyway for me to restore these.
I tried system restore and that didnt do much. They aren't in recycling bin. I tried the search. nothing. I'm hoping there is a way to restore deleted files. Please post replies.
#swgp :: smoke weed go pro :: no chanserv due to gamesurge (ask me about it)
There are applications that recover "deleted" data. Your data isn't really ever deleted. The only way data is ever lost is if it is written over magnetically by your hard drive. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any applications that do this because I've never accidently deleted a needed file I really needed :D
Plus, if you downloaded all of that music, redownload it all again.
Its true nothing is really ever deleted, except when your HDD is full and it must write over itself again and again this is why when you have 3 MB left after a LAN you have massive slowdown but when you delete a couple of gigs it speeds up again. Instead of it being deleted the hard drive just marks it as delelted this way hardware resources arn't being wasted on actually deleting stuff. So if you don't want the cops to find your mp3s when they come barging in with the RIAA best destroy your HDD.
Fanboyism can cause severe blindness, irrational behavior, faulty language, and incoherent ideas
there are tons of programs out there.. and they're easy to find, you obvoiusly panic'd and are lazy so you didnt feel like searching for them :P - Just my 2 cents
GetDataBack works great i agree with #23 i have it for NTFS, recovered over 1GB of deleted files. mostly pictures of friends :D from 4oGB and 250GB Maxtor HD's
i tried using one of those programs in the past to recover a file i had lost. the program was in the middle of "recovering" and i get this error message which forces me to restart my computer. next thing i know my computer doesnt recognize my hard drive. i try everything, reformat, different cables, master-slave. nothing worked. the hard drive was dead.
luckily i got a new one via warranty, but it didnt really matter to me considering the fact that i lost all of my data trying to recover one stupid file. it was actually a CS map file on a map i was working on. i worked on it for 8 months so i really didnt want that time to be wasted. im sure i could have taken the HD to some place that specializes in data recovery, but that would have been too spendy, its not like i had life important files on the HD.
Have you tried Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS data recovery software. This recover the lost data from formated hard drive or data lost from software malfunction, viruses or sabotage. Download the demo from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-reco.. If the demo shows the recovered data then save it by getting the full version.

#15. After approximately 2-3 passes (re-writes) on a hard drive the magnetic print is gone. Therefore, file = = gone forever. gg
i burned it.
deleted it off the hard drive cuz it took too much room.
put the dvd in the next day...
all gone.
