There is a new virus out there that I recently recieved from a setup file called SpyQuake.
It is an incredibly annoying virus that I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people on these forums got it on their comps and it is almost impossible to remove it without a very exact method.
Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware programs don't remove it and you can't delete it by standard methods, from almost all the places I read about how to remove it 90% of the people reformatted because nothing worked and they couldn't get rid of it.
For any of you that might come across such an annoying virus I highly suggest you visit here for help:
It's a pretty simple method to follow and it worked fantastically for me when none of the other suggestions did.
I hope you don't get the virus but if you do I thought you might need some help finding out how to get rid of it since I came across this method by luck.
I dunno if this is the right forum or if it should be stickied or not but I hope to help someone at least.
Good luck.
EDIT:
Forgot to say how it works D:
The way the virus works is it infects your computer with a number of trojans, messes up your homepage and such and then auto-installs a spy program called SpyQuake that they try and force you to register for to get rid of your problem. No matter how hard you try to delete it or uninstall it or anything it will keep re-installing and keep coming back and you can't disable the file on startup (even if you remove it from the startup list it will auto-place itself back in) so rebooting doesn't help.
i actually got it from a setup file for a program and I scanned it with 2 virus programs (AVG + Avast) and no viruses were detected (I would imagine because it is a new virus and isn't on the program lists yet, or wasn't), so I opened it up to install and BAM.
this is the first time i've got a computer virus in quite a few years and it's definately the worst i've experianced.
#8 after you successfully follow all the steps they give you and reboot back into normal mode from safe mode you should be able to change your homepage in internet options and it shouldnt reset like it did when you had the virus.
wow I got that virus 3 days ago, took me 7 hours to get rid of... I had more than spyquake though..jesus i got owned pretty badly lol
I used:
smitrem killbox (works AMAZINGLY if you know the full address to a virus/trojan on your comp) cc cleaner ewido anti-malware avg 7.1 pro (not very good :/ it could detect, but not fix) about buster 6.0 adaware SE personal
That's what I get when I look for a CD Key for Lemonade Tycoon 2 for some fag >_>
