This has gotten to be for quite a while. I was just wondering if my MX510 would be better off with the driver or without and can someone narrow down the aspects of the driver?
umm well i have never owned an mx510 but i have owned the 500 and currently used the 518. I do not use the drivers for my 518. I do not use them because after i bought my new pc, i could not get my sensitivity right for cs. I dont think it really matters if you use the drivers. Also, if you plan on going to the CPL, you cannot install drivers for your mouse.. its really up to you whether you want to use them or not.
i only used drivers with my 510 because i wanted 800 dpi. without the drivers it is only 400. now that i have a g5 i just use 800 dpi without drivers. :)
I've always used logitech mice with drivers, simply because they enable all the options for a mouse that costs 60+ dollars... At that price, you want to take full advantage of the product.
It's a matter of pure preference. Some like the feel of the driver and some like the MS native mouse drivers. Setpoint and Mouseware will accelerate your mouse just a bit faster than the MS natives, but dpi and responsiveness will not change whether or not you use drivers. The nice thing about drivers is there are alot of programming functions and other utilities that come with the program. These are worth looking into.
I run my 510 without any drivers, and i have done so ever since I got it, my mouse just seems more rough and stable, if that makes sense, without the drivers installed
When I used to have the drivers running with my mouse it felt like the mouse wasn’t really doing what I wanted it to do
ive got the 518, im not using drivers cause ive got the ingame sensitivity just right...don't want to mess with that by installing drivers... so , since it seems like u've owned the mouse for a little while i recommend keeping it however u have it (either w/ or w/out)
Drivers seem to cause problems for my mouse. For example in FireFox if I want to open a link in a new tab I can usually just wheel-click it, but if I have the drivers installed, it wants to assign the wheel to some other stuff.
I use the drivers for my MX518, only cause I installed them before I knew that it was better not to use them. I'm not gonna uninstall them though, as I'm used to my mouse sens etc now :)

Driver VS No-Driver!?
You can install the drivers at a LAN, you just have to send in a driver request prior to the event.
