What are User Bans?
When users take it upon themselves to abuse the privileges that come with their account, such as spamming in the forums, posting offensive material, using offensive language or disrupting the experience of other users, they are usually banned from further interaction.
Users are banned for breaking the posting rules.
What affect to Bans have?
When someone is banned, they lose all of the posting privileges that come with their account. This will include the following:
- Posting comments
- Modifying existing comments
- Creating forum posts
- Modifying their profile
- Submitting community content
How are bans created?
GotFrag moderator staff constantly patrol the areas of our sites where users are allowed to post. Should they encounter something that breaks the rules, they will remove (or "nuke") the offending content. They may also choose to ban the user(s) responsible. Bans occur on both IP and account basis, meaning your account may be banned, your IP (or IP block) may be banned, or both may be banned. It only takes a match of 1 of those criteria to enforce the ban.
How long will my ban last?
As long as our moderators deem necessary. When a moderator creates a ban, they specify a length. At the end of the ban, your account will automatically have posting access reinstated. Sorry, but we are unable to tell you the length of your ban.
I think I was banned for posting too quickly!
You were posting comments too quickly, and were issued a temporary ban to prevent system abuse. Try back in a few days, and next time leave a bit more time between your posts!
I was banned unjustly, where can I go for help?
Sorry, but this isn't a democracy, it's a free service. Due to the amount of bans we issue we aren't able to review them on a per-case basis. You have the options of creating a new account (with a new e-mail address) and hoping that your ban isn't an IP or network ban, or you can wait for your ban to expire. We do not offer support to banned users.
I see someone posting offensive content, can you ban them?
We will. Our moderators are constantly browsing through our forums and see nearly everything you see - it's up to them to use their best judgement in accordance with our rules when applying bans.
For more information on, see posting rules.
